H.R. No. 1446

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, In November 2012, Tejas Office Products in Houston celebrated its 50th anniversary, and this milestone provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the long-running success of this family-owned business; and

WHEREAS, Founded by Lupe and Irene Fraga in 1962, Tejas Office Products has grown to become one of the largest independent office supply retailers in the Houston area; since 2009, its annual sales have nearly tripled; the firm employs 52 people from the community, some of whom have worked for the company for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Tejas Office Products has been listed on the Hispanicbusiness.com Hispanic Business 500 index every year since 1982, and in 2012, cofounder Lupe Fraga and the company were honored with the State of Texas Small Business Award; and

WHEREAS, Today, the company is led by Mr. and Mrs. Fraga's children, with Stephen Fraga as the company's president, assisted by Michele R. Fraga and Alisa Fraga-Kautzmann and her husband, Frank; and

WHEREAS, The well-being of the people of Texas depends on a vibrant, diversified economy, and independent businesses are to be commended for the vital role they play in furthering the prosperity of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Tejas Office Products on its 50th anniversary and extend to the Fraga family and their employees sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Tejas Office Products as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
