R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of Joseph Allison Phillips of Houston, who died on March
  10, 2012, at the age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, Joe Phillips was born in Houston on September 8,
  1936, to Otto and Aline Phillips; answering his nation's call to
  duty, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips enjoyed a notable career with the
  Houston Fire Department, working in a variety of posts, including
  public information officer, before retiring in 2011 with 48 years
  of service; active in his community as well, he was a member of
  Reagan Masonic Lodge No. 1037, American Legion Post No. 560, and
  the Scottish Rite; and
         WHEREAS, Friendly and outgoing, Mr. Phillips could often be
  found sitting in his carport, where he engaged every person who
  passed by with a joke or a story; he was known for his interest in
  history and was especially knowledgeable about his hometown;
  moreover, he was a skilled woodworker, and he had a knack for
  repairing engines; in recent years, he took great pleasure in
  riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips shared 53 years of marriage with his
  wife, Patricia Lindsay Phillips, and the couple were blessed with
  three children, Cynthia, Michael, and Stacey; and
         WHEREAS, A proud Marine, firefighter, and native Houstonian,
  Joe Phillips lived a rich and purposeful life centered around his
  family and friends, and he will long be remembered with deep
  affection by all those who were privileged to know him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Joseph Allison
  Phillips and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Patricia "Pat" Lindsay Phillips; to his
  children, Cynthia Laskowski and her husband, Alton, Michael
  Phillips and his wife, Brenda, and Stacey Osceola and her husband,
  Bryant; to his grandchildren, Valerie and Lindsay Laskowski and
  Alex, Brent, and Hannah Phillips; and to his other relatives and
  many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joseph
  Allison Phillips.
