R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout is an achievement shared by |
|
|
many of this nation's leaders, and the attainment of this |
|
|
significant honor by Grayson K. Blackburn of Houston also heralds a |
|
|
future bright with opportunity and promise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan mastered a number of important |
|
|
skills in his quest to become an Eagle Scout; he earned merit badges |
|
|
in such diverse areas as first aid, personal fitness, and |
|
|
environmental science, and he gained experience in leadership and |
|
|
teamwork while undertaking an Eagle Scout project that contributed |
|
|
to the betterment of his community; to fulfill the latter |
|
|
requirement, he landscaped the entrance to the Alzheimer's unit at |
|
|
a nursing home, beautifying the area with new plants and flowers and |
|
|
building two benches; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A valued member of Troop No. 641, Mr. Blackburn has |
|
|
served his peers as a patrol leader, quartermaster, and assistant |
|
|
senior patrol leader, and in so doing, he has exemplified the many |
|
|
positive traits for which Boy Scouts are renowned; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Blackburn has further distinguished himself as a |
|
|
drummer in the Memorial High School marching band; he has |
|
|
volunteered as a multimedia assistant for the youth ministries of |
|
|
Second Baptist Church, and he enjoys participating in mission work |
|
|
and attending Christian camps; moreover, he has contributed to film |
|
|
projects for Houston businesses and plans to study digital |
|
|
filmmaking in college; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Terry L. Blackburn and |
|
|
Cynthia C. Blackburn, Grayson Blackburn has demonstrated an |
|
|
unwavering commitment to the Boy Scout organization and its ideals, |
|
|
and the knowledge and confidence he has acquired along the way will |
|
|
indeed serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Eagle Scout Grayson K. Blackburn on |
|
|
achieving this prestigious rank and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Blackburn as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
