R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout is an achievement shared by
  many of this nation's leaders, and the attainment of this
  significant honor by Grayson K. Blackburn of Houston also heralds a
  future bright with opportunity and promise; and
         WHEREAS, This fine young Texan mastered a number of important
  skills in his quest to become an Eagle Scout; he earned merit badges
  in such diverse areas as first aid, personal fitness, and
  environmental science, and he gained experience in leadership and
  teamwork while undertaking an Eagle Scout project that contributed
  to the betterment of his community; to fulfill the latter
  requirement, he landscaped the entrance to the Alzheimer's unit at
  a nursing home, beautifying the area with new plants and flowers and
  building two benches; and
         WHEREAS, A valued member of Troop No. 641, Mr. Blackburn has
  served his peers as a patrol leader, quartermaster, and assistant
  senior patrol leader, and in so doing, he has exemplified the many
  positive traits for which Boy Scouts are renowned; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Blackburn has further distinguished himself as a
  drummer in the Memorial High School marching band; he has
  volunteered as a multimedia assistant for the youth ministries of
  Second Baptist Church, and he enjoys participating in mission work
  and attending Christian camps; moreover, he has contributed to film
  projects for Houston businesses and plans to study digital
  filmmaking in college; and
         WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Terry L. Blackburn and
  Cynthia C. Blackburn, Grayson Blackburn has demonstrated an
  unwavering commitment to the Boy Scout organization and its ideals,
  and the knowledge and confidence he has acquired along the way will
  indeed serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Eagle Scout Grayson K. Blackburn on
  achieving this prestigious rank and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Blackburn as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
