R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The community service group AT&T Veterans is
  celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2013, and its efforts in behalf
  of our nation's military personnel, veterans, and their families
  are indeed deserving of special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Made up of AT&T employees who are veterans or who are
  currently serving members of the U.S. armed forces, this
  independent nonprofit organization boasts more than 4,500 members
  in 40 states and Puerto Rico, and together they account for more
  than 12,000 volunteer hours each year; and
         WHEREAS, Members of AT&T Veterans help coordinate public
  observations of Memorial Day and Veterans Day, visit elderly
  veterans in nursing homes, and provide support to veteran hospices
  and homeless shelters; they also raise $40,000 annually for student
  scholarships; and
         WHEREAS, Working with such other organizations as Back On My
  Feet, Centurion Military Alliance, and the Yellow Ribbon
  Reintegration Program and with businesses such as RunTex and White
  Lodging, AT&T Veterans also offers mentoring and job assistance to
  1,200 veterans each year, helping them reenter the civilian
  workforce; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, AT&T Veterans has entered into
  partnerships with the American Lung Association, the American Red
  Cross, F7 Group, Hope4Heroes, Military Moms of Texas, the Wounded
  Warrior Project, the Student Veterans Association at The University
  of Texas, and many other organizations that help Texas veterans,
  and it has worked with businesses such as H-E-B, the Round Rock
  Express, Target, and Home Depot on such projects as Heroes Night
  Out, Honor Flight, and Operation Hydration; and
         WHEREAS, In all its endeavors, AT&T Veterans is supported by
  the pro-veteran policies of AT&T, which has been recognized as one
  of the 10 Best Corporations for Veteran-Owned Businesses by
  Vetrepreneur magazine and as one of the Top 50 Military-Friendly
  Employers by G. I. Jobs magazine, as well as cited for having one of
  the Best Military Talent Programs by the Electronic Recruiting
  Exchange; AT&T is also one of the founding companies of the 100,000
  Jobs Mission, which aims to provide jobs to 100,000 veterans by the
  end of 2020; and
         WHEREAS, Our nation owes a profound debt of gratitude to the
  men and women of the U.S. armed forces, and for three decades, AT&T
  Veterans has played a vital role in welcoming home our veterans and
  providing them with the support they so richly deserve; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of AT&T
  Veterans and extend to all those affiliated with the group sincere
  appreciation for their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for AT&T Veterans as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
