R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Kim Cousins is retiring as the principal of Dripping
  Springs High School at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, drawing
  to a close a notable tenure in education that has spanned more than
  three decades; and
         WHEREAS, During her five years at Dripping Springs High, Mrs.
  Cousins has fostered strong relationships with students, parents,
  and faculty alike, and she also oversaw a smooth transition as the
  institution changed locations at the start of the 2010-2011 school
  year; under her expert direction, the school has earned a number of
  well-deserved accolades including an "Exemplary" rating in 2011,
  the College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council in 2010 and
  2012, and inclusion in several national lists of top high schools,
  such as those compiled by Newsweek magazine and the Washington
  Post; and
         WHEREAS, Before coming to DSHS, this dynamic administrator
  served as the principal of Hudson Bend Middle School in the Lake
  Travis Independent School District; she had also worked in Goose
  Creek ISD and in Clear Creek ISD, where she broke barriers as the
  second female high school athletic director in the state; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Cousins enjoys the love
  and support of her husband, Mark, and the pair plan to remain in the
  Dripping Springs area following her retirement; and
         WHEREAS, Through her dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence, Kim Cousins has greatly benefited the
  students of Dripping Springs, and she may indeed reflect with pride
  on her accomplishments as she prepares to embark on the next
  exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kim Cousins on her retirement as
  principal of Dripping Springs High School and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Cousins as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
