R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Carolyn Hodges has made invaluable contributions to
  the Republican Party and to her fellow citizens as president of the
  Texas Federation of Republican Women; and
         WHEREAS, In the role of president, Ms. Hodges presides over
  one of the most influential women's political organizations in the
  country; with more than 10,000 members and 164 local clubs, the
  Texas Federation of Republican Women actively supports Republican
  candidates, in addition to encouraging Republican women to run for
  elected office and training them to become effective advocates in
  behalf of the state and national GOP; and
         WHEREAS, During her affiliation with TFRW, Ms. Hodges has
  been instrumental in organizing three trips to the U.S. Capitol,
  and she has further shared her expertise as vice president of
  special events and as a regional deputy president; she previously
  served as president of the Greater Houston Council of Federated
  Republican Women, an umbrella organization for over 30 clubs in
  Southeast Texas, and she has held numerous leadership posts in the
  club Village Republican Women; for her generous volunteerism, TFRW
  recognized her on its 2009 list of "10 Outstanding" Republican
  women, and she has also had the honor of representing Texas as a
  delegate at the 2012 Republican National Convention; and
         WHEREAS, This public-spirited Texan is a former teacher at
  Memorial Middle School in Houston, where she taught geography,
  history, and government and served as a department chair; her
  previous political experience includes working in the offices of
  U.S. Congressmen Bill Archer and John Culberson, both
  representatives for the Houston area; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Hodges enjoys the love and
  support of her husband, Tom, and their two children and
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Carolyn Hodges has set an inspiring example of civic
  and political engagement, and the members of the Texas Federation
  of Republican Women are fortunate indeed to benefit from her
  dedication and leadership; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Carolyn Hodges for her service as
  president of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hodges as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
