R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of Milam County gathered on March 22, |
|
|
2013, to celebrate the dedication of the Army Master Sergeant |
|
|
Charles L. Price III Memorial Highway; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Part of U.S. 77, the roadway stretches from the |
|
|
northern city limits of Rockdale to southeast of Cameron; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The thoroughfare pays tribute to the life of Army |
|
|
Master Sergeant Charles L. Price III, who was killed in action in |
|
|
Afghanistan on August 12, 2011; a Cameron native, he graduated from |
|
|
C. H. Yoe High School and went on to serve his country in the Persian |
|
|
Gulf War, Kosovo, and Iraq, as well as in the Balkans and Kuwait; |
|
|
over the course of his distinguished military career, he earned |
|
|
more than two dozen honors, including the Bronze Star, the |
|
|
Meritorious Service, the Army Commendation, and the Army |
|
|
Achievement Medals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This courageous soldier embodied the highest ideals |
|
|
of the U.S. armed forces, and the portion of the highway named for |
|
|
him serves as a lasting reminder of his tremendous sacrifice in |
|
|
behalf of this nation; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the Army Master |
|
|
Sergeant Charles L. Price III Memorial Highway and commend all |
|
|
those responsible for bringing this important project to fruition. |
