R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Elsa Brown of Robstown, who passed away on March 22, 2013, at the |
|
age of 81; and |
|
WHEREAS, A Robstown native, the former Elsa Cisneros was born |
|
on October 19, 1931, to Felix and Matilde Cisneros; she earned a |
|
bachelor's degree from the University of the Incarnate Word and a |
|
master's degree in social work from Sam Houston State University; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown gained experience at the Gonzalez Warm |
|
Spring Foundation, a hospital for polio patients, and later at the |
|
Caruth Rehabilitation Center in Dallas; she subsequently worked as |
|
a nurse for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia for five years, an experience |
|
that awakened in her an enthusiasm for traveling the world, and |
|
during that time she met the love of her life, Ken Brown; the couple |
|
went on to share more than four and a half decades of marriage |
|
together; and |
|
WHEREAS, After returning to Texas, Mrs. Brown was employed by |
|
the Nueces County Health Department as a social worker; she later |
|
became a nursing instructor and the director of continuing |
|
education for nursing at Del Mar College, where she was employed for |
|
27 years before retiring; dedicated to using her training and |
|
expertise for the benefit of others, she continued to work even in |
|
retirement as a consultant for Head Start; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown further distinguished herself as the |
|
devoted mother of three children, Kenny, Kim, and Kalista, and she |
|
and her husband had the joy of welcoming into their family seven |
|
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Elsa Brown will be deeply missed, memories |
|
of her passion, commitment, and caring will long resonate in the |
|
hearts of all those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Elsa Brown and extend |
|
sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Ken |
|
Brown; to her children, Kenny Brown and his wife, Stephanie, Kim |
|
Davis and her husband, Mike, and Kalista Emerson; to her sisters, |
|
Olga Hankins and her husband, Ronald, and Irma Cook and her husband, |
|
Doug; to her brother, Hector Cisneros; to her grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Elsa Brown. |
