H.R. No. 1499

	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Wesley Community Center in Robstown is hosting its
	annual banquet on April 25, 2013, and this event provides a fitting
	opportunity to recognize the organization for its contributions to
	the Coastal Bend community; and
	WHEREAS, Established in 1941 by the Women's Society of
	Christian Service of the First United Methodist Church, Wesley
	Community Center has offered a number of vital programs through the
	years, including kindergarten classes, assistance and training for
	disabled youth, parenting courses, and tutoring and peer mentoring
	services; and
	WHEREAS, The center currently provides child care for many
	low-income, homeless, and foster children with the support of the
	General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church,
	the local United Way, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
	Development; and
	WHEREAS, Under the leadership of executive director MaLinda
	Conway Faughn and board president Bonnie Berry, Wesley Community
	Center remains a positive force in South Texas, and its efforts
	continue to change countless lives for the better; now, therefore,
	be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
	Legislature hereby honor Wesley Community Center on the occasion of
	its annual banquet and extend to all those associated with the
	organization sincere best wishes for continued success with their
	important work; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	House of Representatives.
