R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Mesquite are visiting the |
|
|
State Capitol on April 16 and 17, 2013, and the occasion provides a |
|
|
fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, |
|
|
Leadership Mesquite strives to educate civic-minded individuals |
|
|
about city, county, and state government; the course lasts nine |
|
|
months and involves citizens who represent a wide range of |
|
|
backgrounds and perspectives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Leadership Mesquite works in cooperation with such |
|
|
entities as the Mesquite Economic Development Board, Dallas County |
|
|
Commissioners Court, Mesquite Independent School District, and |
|
|
Eastfield College to sponsor different programs every month to help |
|
|
members gain a better understanding of the community; moreover, |
|
|
each class chooses a special project to benefit the community, and |
|
|
this year, the group is hosting a softball tournament to raise funds |
|
|
for a September 11 memorial; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of |
|
|
volunteerism and community pride, Leadership Mesquite is fostering |
|
|
an informed and engaged citizenry, and the program is helping to |
|
|
build a brighter and more prosperous future for the Lone Star State; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize April 17, 2013, as Leadership Mesquite |
|
|
Day at the State Capitol and extend to all the participants sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success. |
