R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Glen Rose High School Academic Team |
|
|
achieved notable individual success and collectively led their |
|
|
school to victory on March 23, 2013, capturing its 23rd district UIL |
|
|
title in the past 25 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing in such diverse areas as debate, number |
|
|
sense, computer science, current events, literary criticism, |
|
|
writing, physics, and more, the Glen Rose team received a total of |
|
|
529 points and will advance to the regionals for the calculator |
|
|
applications event; the team placed in the top two in 11 of the 13 |
|
|
categories; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to the group achievement, individual |
|
|
team members Nathan Burroughs, Cody Burtscher, Jacqui Condy, Ben |
|
|
Coppock, Kalli Crabtree, Devan Elliott, Abigail Fonseca, Patrick |
|
|
Freehill, Taylor Hansen, Amber Hewitt, Austin Hoodenpyle, Blake |
|
|
Kramer, Grace Payne, Christine Sheets, Sam Stegall, Miranda Willis, |
|
|
Hanna Wisdom, and Elisa Wiseman all achieved remarkable success, |
|
|
earning many first-place and second-place wins qualifying them to |
|
|
advance to the regionals as well; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm |
|
|
for learning, the Glen Rose High School Academic Team is a source of |
|
|
pride to its school and community, and it is indeed a pleasure to |
|
|
honor the team for a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the Glen Rose High School Academic Team on |
|
|
its 2013 district championship and extend to its members sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
