R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Bryan Holcomb of Friendswood High School has been |
|
awarded the 2013 State Farm Texas Scholar Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2001, the Texas Scholar Award |
|
recognizes exceptional high school seniors in the Lone Star State; |
|
in order to be considered for the award, students must perform in |
|
University Interscholastic League-sanctioned competition, be |
|
active community service volunteers, and graduate with a minimum |
|
grade point average of 3.5; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Brad and Angela Holcomb, Bryan Holcomb is |
|
ranked third in the senior class at FHS and is a National Merit |
|
Scholar; in UIL competition, Mr. Holcomb is ranked 11th in the state |
|
in math and 4th in the state in marching band, and he earned a 1st |
|
division rating in concert band; he and his academic decathlon team |
|
won the 2013 Medium School State Championship, and he finished 7th |
|
overall with a gold medal in economics and silver medals in |
|
literature, music, and math; in addition, he wrestles on the school |
|
team, plays piano for his church's boys choir, and is an Eagle |
|
Scout; next year, he plans on attending a four-year university and |
|
pursuing a dual degree in sports management and business; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bryan Holcomb is a source of great pride to his |
|
family, school, and community, and he may indeed look forward to a |
|
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bryan Holcomb on receiving the 2013 |
|
State Farm Texas Scholar Award and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Holcomb as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
