R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Rick Wade has been named a Galveston County Everyday |
|
|
Hero for 2013 by the Galveston Daily News; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Highly engaged in civic life, Mr. Wade has been a |
|
|
member of the League City Chamber of Commerce since 2002, and he has |
|
|
served on its board for six years; he is a Chamber Ambassador and a |
|
|
member of Chamber Men Who Cook, and he further contributes to the |
|
|
chamber through his efforts in behalf of its annual awards |
|
|
celebration, golf tournament, and membership drives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Wade served on the Mobility Task Force for the |
|
|
chamber and the city, and he was a member of the Highway 96 Task |
|
|
Force advocating for the overpass at Interstate Highway 45; in |
|
|
2009, he became president of the board of Destination League City, |
|
|
overseeing the use of hotel occupancy tax funds for the visitor |
|
|
center and the marketing of local events and museums; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Giving generously of his time and talents, Mr. Wade |
|
|
has chaired the South Shore Dockside Food and Wine Festival; his |
|
|
efforts have also benefited a wide range of charitable |
|
|
organizations, including the Cowboys and Cowgirls Who Cook, |
|
|
Interfaith Caring Ministries, the American Cancer Society, the |
|
|
Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sentinels of Freedom, and the YMCA; |
|
|
moreover, he has served on the Clear Creek Education Foundation |
|
|
Board, and he served as finance committee chair for the Clear Creek |
|
|
Independent School District's successful 2007 bond campaign; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has attended the Leadership |
|
|
League City program, and he is the recipient of the chamber's |
|
|
Outstanding Leadership Award and 2006 Star of the Year Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The selfless efforts of community leaders help to |
|
|
improve the lives of all Texans, and the citizens of Galveston |
|
|
County are fortunate indeed to count Rick Wade among their fellow |
|
|
residents; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rick Wade on his selection as a |
|
|
2013 Galveston County Everyday Hero by the Galveston Daily News and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his |
|
|
noteworthy endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Wade as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
