R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Five members of the Midway Independent School |
|
District Marine Corps JROTC have received certificates of |
|
appreciation for the tribute they have rendered to the service of |
|
American veterans; and |
|
WHEREAS, Recognized for their volunteerism were Cadet Second |
|
Lieutenant Josh Powers, Cadet Staff Sergeant Josh Snider, Cadet |
|
Sergeant Justin Day, Cadet Sergeant Maria Barragan, and Cadet |
|
Gunnery Sergeant Eric Derosa; they are led by Midway Marine Corps |
|
JROTC Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jeff Fisher and Master Sergeant |
|
Lawrence Trujillo; and |
|
WHEREAS, These cadets joined in the work of Wreaths Across |
|
America, a nonprofit organization that lays wreaths on the graves |
|
at Arlington National Cemetery and also at veterans' gravesites |
|
throughout the country; traveling to downtown Waco, the cadets laid |
|
wreaths at the final resting places of veterans buried at Oakwood |
|
Cemetery; more than 130 years old, the cemetery covers some 160 |
|
acres and contains the burial sites of many men and women who |
|
answered their country's call to duty; and |
|
WHEREAS, Americans owe a lasting debt of gratitude and |
|
remembrance to those who have served in the armed forces of this |
|
country, and it is a privilege to recognize these cadets for the |
|
homage they have paid to area veterans; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor those members of the Midway Independent |
|
School District Marine Corps JROTC who participated in the work of |
|
Wreaths Across America and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
for the cadets as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of |
|
Representatives. |
