R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Linda H. Smith of Dallas is being recognized on May |
|
|
4, 2013, as a special honoree at the 2013 Esther Awards Program |
|
|
sponsored by the Strait Gate Fellowship Baptist Church of Elgin; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Esther Awards Program was established to honor |
|
|
women who have distinguished themselves through Christian |
|
|
leadership and civic service; an extension of the Strait Gate |
|
|
Women's Ministry, the initiative is intended to provide positive |
|
|
role models to inspire and encourage younger women in the church and |
|
|
the wider community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient, Ms. Smith has long |
|
|
advocated for the elderly and volunteered her time to help care for |
|
|
older residents; she has also created the Banana Bread Ministry, |
|
|
which serves many in the community; this esteemed Texan has been |
|
|
involved in nursing for more than 35 years, and she was nominated as |
|
|
"Outstanding Nurse" by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 2005; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her strong faith and dedication, Linda Smith |
|
|
has improved the quality of life for countless area residents, and |
|
|
she may reflect with justifiable pride on her accomplishments; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Linda H. Smith on her selection as |
|
|
a 2013 Esther Awards Program honoree and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
