R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Jan Patterson of Dallas
  has been a leader in the development of the Republican Party in her
  county and state; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Patterson was instrumental in forming the Lake
  Highlands Republican Women's Club as a charter member in 1980 and
  served the organization as president; moreover, she was a delegate
  to the Texas Federation of Republican Women and the National
  Federation of Republican Women Conventions, and over the years, she
  has served in various positions of leadership, including president,
  of the TFRW; and
         WHEREAS, Through her tireless work with the federation, Ms.
  Patterson has influenced civic engagement across the Lone Star
  State; this dynamic Texan began wearing red for the TFRW Days at the
  State Capitol, a style that has grown in popularity to become a
  cherished tradition in both houses of the legislature; and
         WHEREAS, An inspiring example of the hard work and strong
  ideals that are central to success in a democracy, Jan Patterson may
  look with pride at her many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Jan Patterson for her contributions to the
  political process in Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Patterson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
