R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dan Johnson was appointed city manager by the
  Richardson City Council on June 1, 2012; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's experience in public administration
  spans 35 years, including more than a decade as city manager and
  deputy city manager in Carrollton and tenures as director of
  regional services for the North Central Texas Council of
  Governments and as a budget officer in Sherman; and
         WHEREAS, Appointed deputy city manager of Richardson in 1997,
  Mr. Johnson served in that position for 15 years; during that time,
  he also served as chief operating officer and was instrumental in
  the city's success in securing top credit ratings from both
  Standard & Poor's and Moody's, a distinction shared by only four
  other Texas cities and by less than seven percent of cities
  nationwide; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has contributed significantly to the
  growth of the local economy by developing recruitment and support
  strategies for business interests, including such major employers
  as Texas Instruments, Bank of America, and Renaissance Hotels; he
  served as project manager for the Eisemann Center for Performing
  Arts and Corporate Presentations at Galatyn Park, and he has been
  active in efforts to spur redevelopment along Central Expressway
  and the West Spring Valley Corridor, as well as in the vicinity of
  the Bush Turnpike Station; Mr. Johnson has additionally been
  instrumental in attracting new headquarters and operating centers
  for a number of leading companies, among them Cisco Systems, Blue
  Cross Blue Shield of Texas, AT&T, Samsung, and United Healthcare;
  and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan holds a bachelor's degree in
  political science from Austin College and a master's degree in
  public administration from the University of North Texas; he is
  also a graduate of the Public Executive Institute of the Lyndon B.
  Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at
  Austin; Dan Johnson is a past president of the North Texas City
  Management Association and the Urban Management Assistants of North
  Texas (UMANT), as well as a former director-at-large of the Texas
  City Management Association; and
         WHEREAS, Frequently honored for his accomplishments, Mr.
  Johnson has received the Administrator of the Year award from the
  Texas Municipal Library Directors Association and the Joy Sansom
  Mentor Award from UMANT; in 1995, he was named a Distinguished
  Alumnus by the Department of Public Administration at the
  University of North Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Dan Johnson has amassed an impressive record of
  achievement over the course of his career, and the experience that
  he has gained is certain to be of great benefit as he continues to
  serve the citizens of Richardson; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dan Johnson on his appointment as
  city manager of Richardson and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
