R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan truly merits |
|
special recognition, and Ninfa Trevino Pena of Mission is marking |
|
this notable milestone in her life on May 8, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, The youngest of five daughters, Ninfa Trevino was |
|
born in 1913 to Manuel and Procora Izaguirre Trevino; she earned a |
|
degree in education from Texas A&I University of Kingsville and was |
|
a longtime second grade teacher at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic |
|
School, where she also assisted students with special needs; |
|
through the years, she has encouraged countless young people to |
|
succeed both inside and outside of the classroom; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1937, she married Ernesto Pena Flores, and they |
|
shared a rewarding marriage that spanned nearly six decades; one of |
|
the original pioneer families of Mission, the Penas went on to have |
|
6 children, Ernesto, Maggie, Fernando, Mary Lou, Joe, and Bobby, as |
|
well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to her loved ones and to her faith, |
|
Mrs. Pena has helped to foster strong family values for generations |
|
of her relatives, and she continues to serve as a source of |
|
inspiration to all who know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ninfa Trevino Pena on her 100th |
|
birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Pena as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
