        |  | R E S O L U T I O N | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories | 
      
        |  | of Robert W. Woolsey of Corpus Christi, who passed away on March 28, | 
      
        |  | 2013, at the age of 85; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, The son of V. G. and Elouise Woolsey, Bob Woolsey was | 
      
        |  | born on March 7, 1928, and graduated from Corpus Christi High School | 
      
        |  | in 1945; he attended Del Mar College, and he earned his bachelor's | 
      
        |  | and juris doctor degrees from Southern Methodist University, where | 
      
        |  | he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and wrote for the law | 
      
        |  | journal; following his graduation from law school, he joined the | 
      
        |  | firm of Kleberg, Mobley, Lockett & Weil in Corpus Christi; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Answering his country's call to duty, Mr. Woolsey | 
      
        |  | joined the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and | 
      
        |  | served in Korea and Okinawa, Japan, as a first lieutenant; in 1954, | 
      
        |  | he resumed his civilian career, specializing in admiralty and | 
      
        |  | maritime law, and continued his practice until his retirement in | 
      
        |  | 1996; active in his professional community, he was a proctor member | 
      
        |  | of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and a member of | 
      
        |  | the Federation of Insurance Counsel; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, A lifelong congregant of the First United Methodist | 
      
        |  | Church in Corpus Christi, Mr. Woolsey sang in its choir for 65 | 
      
        |  | years, taught music in all of the adult Sunday school classes, and | 
      
        |  | held leadership positions on many boards and committees; in | 
      
        |  | addition to his involvement at the local level, he served the | 
      
        |  | Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church as a | 
      
        |  | member of the board of pensions, the council on finance and | 
      
        |  | administration, and the board of trustees; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Although Bob Woolsey will be deeply missed, | 
      
        |  | cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in | 
      
        |  | the hearts of all those who had the good fortune to know him; now, | 
      
        |  | therefore, be it | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | 
      
        |  | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert W. Woolsey and | 
      
        |  | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, | 
      
        |  | Wyona Lange Woolsey; to his children, R. Michael Woolsey and Susan | 
      
        |  | Kavanaugh; to his stepson, Jerry Ellison, Sr.; to his four | 
      
        |  | grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and to his other | 
      
        |  | relatives and friends; and, be it further | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | 
      
        |  | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | 
      
        |  | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bob | 
      
        |  | Woolsey. |
