R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Lexey Long was selected by the Order of the Alamo to
  serve as a duchess in the visiting court of the Coronation of the
  Queen during Fiesta San Antonio on April 24, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, One of the oldest traditions of Fiesta San Antonio,
  the coronation ceremony is an elaborate presentation of the queen
  and her court, including 12 visiting and 12 local duchesses;
  accompanied by a symphony orchestra, each duchess makes a
  full-court bow, displaying her ornate dress and richly embellished
  train; once the court is seated, musicians and performers entertain
  the royalty and audience alike; this year's theme was "The Court of
  Nature's Tapestry"; and
         WHEREAS, The Order of the Alamo, which was founded in 1909,
  celebrates and remembers the Lone Star State's heroic struggle for
  independence against Mexico; each year, members meet to choose the
  next queen and her court, all of whom are featured in the major
  Fiesta parades; among the other events that take place during
  Fiesta are the Battle of the Flowers, the Pilgrimage to the Alamo,
  the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, the Texas Cavaliers River Parade, and a
  Night in Old San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of the accolade bestowed on her,
  Lexey Long is a source of great pride for her family and her
  community, and it is a pleasure to honor her for this special
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Lexey Long on being named a duchess
  in the visiting court of the Coronation of the Queen of the Order of
  the Alamo and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Long as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
