R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Sydney Faye Taylor of Lorena has been named the 2013
  Queen of the Waco Cotton Palace; and
         WHEREAS, Now in its 43rd year of operation, the Waco Cotton
  Palace is a vibrant stage show that dramatically reenacts the
  history of Waco; the selection of the queen and court is a cherished
  tradition that recognizes some of Waco's most accomplished young
  people, and Ms. Taylor is indeed a fitting recipient of this
  prestigious honor; and
         WHEREAS, Sydney Taylor is a senior at Lorena High School,
  where she is completing the Distinguished Achievement Program; an
  outstanding student, she is a member of the National Honor Society,
  received the All Academic Award, and is a National Young Leaders
  State Scholar and a National Society of High School Scholars
  designee; athletically inclined as well, she served as captain of
  Lorena's varsity cheer squad for two years, was selected as an
  All-American Cheerleader by the National Cheerleaders Association
  and the Universal Cheerleaders Association, earned the Leopard
  Heart Award, and performed at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
  Victory Bowl; other school activities include participation in the
  Student Council, Spanish Club, and the Diamond Darlings; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bryan Edward Taylor,
  this outstanding young Texan is also a caring volunteer; a recent
  graduate of the six-year National Charity League of Waco program,
  she won its Mother-Daughter Service Award and was the 2013 senior
  class president; moreover, she is involved in the Peer Assistance
  and Leadership program, helps with youth activities at the First
  United Methodist Church in Waco, served as a Waco Symphony Golden
  Belle, and is her community's nominee for the Waco Rotary Club
  Outstanding Youth Citizenship Award; and
         WHEREAS, Following her high school graduation, Ms. Taylor
  will travel throughout the Lone Star State as a NCA instructor, and
  she will begin her college career at Texas Christian University in
  the fall; and
         WHEREAS, Sydney Taylor has demonstrated a strong commitment
  to excellence as an athlete, a student, and an engaged citizen, and
  she may indeed reflect with pride on her achievements and
  contributions as she looks forward to the next exciting chapter in
  her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sydney Taylor on her selection as
  the 2013 Waco Cotton Palace Queen and extend to her best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Taylor as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
