R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Gervais William Straker, Sr., of Houston on July 28, |
|
2012, at the age of 91; and |
|
WHEREAS, A Houston native, Gervais Straker was born on |
|
January 31, 1921, to Rose and Emil Straker; he enjoyed a successful |
|
career with Conoco Oil Company, and he retired after 45 years of |
|
dedicated service; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Straker enjoyed the |
|
support of his wife, Martha Jane, who predeceased him; he was |
|
blessed with four children, Linda, Gervais, Paul, and Patrick, and |
|
over the passing years, he took great joy in welcoming into his |
|
family nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gervais Straker treasured the time he spent in the |
|
company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will |
|
in turn cherish their memories of this kind and caring man; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gervais William |
|
Straker, Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his children, Linda Scarborough and her husband, Alan, |
|
Gervais Straker, Jr., and his wife, Joni, Paul Straker and his wife, |
|
Shawn, and Patrick Straker and his wife, Janice; to his |
|
grandchildren, Kenneth Farguson, Justin Straker and his wife, Jeri, |
|
Erin Arthur and her husband, Tristan, Pamela, Elizabeth, Zoe, and |
|
Jake Straker, and Charley and Sarah Bridges; to his |
|
great-grandchildren, Dylan Farguson, William and Madysin Straker, |
|
and Lucas Arthur; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gervais |
|
William Straker, Sr. |
