R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Citizens throughout the Coastal Bend are
  celebrating voestalpine's decision to partner with Port Corpus
  Christi as part of the La Quinta Trade Gateway; and
         WHEREAS, A premier steelmaking, processing, and technology
  group from Austria, voestalpine is an international leader in
  railway switch technology, tool steel, and more, and the company
  works with automotive and domestic appliance industries in Europe
  and oil and gas industries worldwide; as the new anchor tenant on
  the port, voestalpine's new iron reduction facility will help raise
  the profile of Port Corpus Christi, the fifth largest port in the
  United States in total tonnage, and its presence will positively
  impact commercial activity in the region; and
         WHEREAS, Due to be up and running by 2016, this new plant
  represents a $700 million investment and will bring an additional
  150 new jobs to the area, contributing greatly to the quality of
  life in San Patricio County; and
         WHEREAS, Texas has a vibrant, diversified economy, and
  operations at the La Quinta Trade Gateway promise to bring new
  opportunities for development that will have wide-ranging
  benefits; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Port of Corpus Christi and
  voestalpine on the occasion of their new business venture and
  extend to all those involved with the La Quinta Trade Gateway best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be provided
  for the Port of Corpus Christi and voestalpine as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
