R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
  honor McDonald's and to recognize April 26 as Salad Day 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Salad Day 2013 is being sponsored by Texas
  McDonald's owner/operators; Texas McDonald's owner/operators will
  serve salads and oatmeal to the public while providing information
  about the McDonald's system's positive impact on the state's
  economy; and
         WHEREAS, Texas McDonald's owner/operators represent a major
  economic presence in their communities; a total of 1,177 McDonald's
  restaurants operate in Texas employing more than 65,240 Texans; and
         WHEREAS, Texas McDonald's owner/operators contribute
  significantly to the state by returning much of the revenues they
  generate to local economies; in 2012, the McDonald's system spent
  nearly $1.4 billion in Texas, returning nearly 43 cents of every
  dollar earned to local Texas economies; and
         WHEREAS, The McDonald's system purchases large amounts of
  Texas agricultural products, including approximately 118 million
  pounds of beef, 75.7 million pounds of flour, and 19.1 million
  pounds of onions in 2011 alone; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome Texas McDonald's owner/operators to the
  State Capitol and extend to them best wishes for a successful Salad
  Day 2013; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Texas McDonald's owner/operators as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
