R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Mary Margret Smith of Mineola who passed away on February 22, |
|
2013, at the age of 92; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Joe J. Smith, Sr., and Ciddie Head |
|
Smith, Mary Smith was born in Cleburne on December 3, 1920; she was |
|
an attentive and loving caregiver for her parents, and she proudly |
|
supported her seven siblings in all their endeavors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Smith represented Mineola in the Texas pageant |
|
in 1939, and in subsequent years, she served her community as a |
|
secretary on the Meredith Foundation Board and as an officer of the |
|
Pilot Club; a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church |
|
in Mineola, she sang in the choir, served as a youth counselor, and |
|
taught in the children's department; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mary Smith lived a rich and purposeful life centered |
|
around her faith and her family, and she will long be remembered |
|
with deep affection by all those who held her dear; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Margret Smith |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
sister, Dorothy McCreary, and her husband, Bob; to her brothers, |
|
Don Smith and his wife, Peggy, and Lamar Smith and his wife, |
|
Beverly; to her sisters-in-law, Katie Smith, Martha Smith, and |
|
Betty Smith Ratliff; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary |
|
Margret Smith. |
