R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Honor and Remember Texas Chapter is hosting a
  Memorial Day weekend honors program in Jasper from May 24 to 25,
  2013; and
         WHEREAS, On Memorial Day 2008, Honor and Remember was founded
  to promote the Honor and Remember flag; this banner was created as a
  symbol recognizing the enormous sacrifice made by members of our
  military who gave their lives in service to the nation; and
         WHEREAS, Each Honor and Remember flag is hand-embroidered
  with the name, rank, and date and place of death of a member of the
  armed forces who was killed in action; in 2012, the national
  organization presented more than 1,000 flags to families of fallen
  heroes; and
         WHEREAS, To raise awareness of the contributions made by the
  men and women who defend our country, the Texas Chapter of Honor and
  Remember is sponsoring a wide range of activities over Memorial Day
  weekend, including presentations of flags to those whose loved ones
  gave their lives for this country; in addition, the event will
  feature a variety of patriotic displays and celebrations, with the
  participation of wounded warriors from recent conflicts, members of
  the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, East Texas
  Patriot Guard Riders, and many others; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe an immeasurable debt to those we
  salute on Memorial Day, and through its efforts, the Honor and
  Remember Texas Chapter is encouraging solemn reflection on the
  courage and selflessness that exemplify the highest ideals of the
  United States military; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the Honor and Remember Texas Chapter
  Memorial Day weekend honors program and extend to all those
  participating sincere best wishes for a meaningful observance.
