R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Brock High School girls' basketball team added
  to its tradition of excellence on the hardwood by winning its fifth
  consecutive University Interscholastic League 2A state
  championship on March 2, 2013, at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin;
  and
         WHEREAS, Finishing with an outstanding record of 35 wins and
  just 5 losses, including a perfect 12-0 mark in district play, the
  Lady Eagles made a thrilling run through the postseason that
  included victories over Sunnyvale, Howe, Alba-Golden, and Alvord
  High Schools to reach the state tournament; after a resounding
  triumph in the semifinals against Centerville, Brock defeated
  Merkel in the title contest by a score of 40-32 to claim the eighth
  state crown in school history; and
         WHEREAS, Braylee Flaska scored 16 points in the tournament
  final to earn Most Valuable Player honors, and she was joined on the
  All-Tournament team by Cora Jenkins; the Lady Eagles also received
  significant contributions throughout the season from the other
  members of the roster: Rachel Harrell, Kylie Ducat, Sierra
  Bradshaw, Taylor Wallace, Cydnie Bynum, Bailey Ivey, Rachel
  Williams, Trisha Jacobs, Allie Popeck, Taylor Fulmer, and Lexie
  Ducat; and
         WHEREAS, The team was guided by head coach Chance
  Westmoreland and assistant coaches Jason Morales and Chrissy
  Worrell; additional support was provided by managers Shileigh Potts
  and Ashley Brawner, statisticians Madi Mayfield and Breana Madry,
  water girl Taylor Ducat, principal Jamie Payne, athletic director
  Scott Drillette, and superintendent Richard Tedder; and
         WHEREAS, In once again proving themselves to be the finest
  girls' 2A basketball squad in the Lone Star State, the Brock Lady
  Eagles have demonstrated exceptional teamwork and dedication, and
  their achievement is a source of tremendous pride to their school
  and their many supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Brock High School girls'
  basketball team on winning the 2013 UIL 2A state championship and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
