R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is |
|
|
marking its 25th anniversary in 2013, and this milestone provides a |
|
|
fitting opportunity to recognize its accomplishments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in Lubbock in 1988 by Carol Lee, the SPWRC is |
|
|
a nonprofit organization that cares for all species of indigenous |
|
|
wildlife with the goal of releasing these animals back into their |
|
|
natural habitat; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The facility has grown to include full- and |
|
|
part-time employees as well as several dozen dedicated volunteers, |
|
|
junior volunteers, and Texas Tech University interns; assisted by |
|
|
two local veterinary clinics, the SPWRC treats approximately 2,500 |
|
|
wildlife patients every year; the center also conducts a number of |
|
|
educational outreach programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the past quarter-century, the vital endeavors |
|
|
of the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center have helped |
|
|
countless animals and enriched the lives of innumerable citizens, |
|
|
and the organization has earned the profound appreciation of all |
|
|
who treasure the natural ecosystem of the Lone Star State; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the |
|
|
establishment of the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center |
|
|
and honor the staff and volunteers for their hard work and |
|
|
dedication in its behalf; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
