R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is
  marking its 25th anniversary in 2013, and this milestone provides a
  fitting opportunity to recognize its accomplishments; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in Lubbock in 1988 by Carol Lee, the SPWRC is
  a nonprofit organization that cares for all species of indigenous
  wildlife with the goal of releasing these animals back into their
  natural habitat; and
         WHEREAS, The facility has grown to include full- and
  part-time employees as well as several dozen dedicated volunteers,
  junior volunteers, and Texas Tech University interns; assisted by
  two local veterinary clinics, the SPWRC treats approximately 2,500
  wildlife patients every year; the center also conducts a number of
  educational outreach programs; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past quarter-century, the vital endeavors
  of the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center have helped
  countless animals and enriched the lives of innumerable citizens,
  and the organization has earned the profound appreciation of all
  who treasure the natural ecosystem of the Lone Star State; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the
  establishment of the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
  and honor the staff and volunteers for their hard work and
  dedication in its behalf; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
