R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Stephen Ross Payne of Lubbock, who passed away on April 4, 2013, |
|
at the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on October 14, 1924, to Paul and Cora Payne, |
|
Stephen Payne was a Lubbock native; he served his country in the |
|
United States Navy during World War II, after which he returned to |
|
West Texas and earned a bachelor's degree in business |
|
administration with an emphasis in accounting from Texas Tech |
|
University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Payne enjoyed a long career in farming and |
|
commercial real estate; moreover, he volunteered with Boy Scout |
|
Troop No. 402 and was an active member of the First Christian |
|
Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, he shared 58 years of |
|
marriage with his wife, Trois, and took pride in the couple's three |
|
children and their spouses, Brad Payne and his wife, Kathy, Karen |
|
Wetterau and her husband, Lin Cave Wetterau, and Karla Chunn and her |
|
husband, John, as well as their seven grandchildren, Michael, |
|
Mason, Stephen, David, Kristen, Mackenzie, and Erin; and |
|
WHEREAS, Stephen Payne brightened the lives of many people |
|
during his years on this earth, and he will be deeply missed by all |
|
those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Stephen Ross Payne |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stephen |
|
Ross Payne. |
