R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Vitek's BBQ in Waco has earned national recognition
  as the winner of the Cooking Channel's 2013 Best College Eats
  competition with its signature dish, the Gut Pak; and
         WHEREAS, This flavorful contest was staged to coincide with
  the 2013 NCAA Tournament, with 32 college towns pitted against each
  other in a "bracket battle" over their best game-time meal; and
         WHEREAS, Originally located in Granger, Vitek's was founded
  as a grocery and meat market in 1915 by William Frank Vitek; the
  business eventually moved to Waco, where his son, Willie, took it
  over, and in 1972, Willie's son, Bill Vitek and his wife, Susan,
  began serving barbecue sandwiches and sausage; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Vitek created the restaurant's famous Gut Pak
  in 1983, combining chopped beef, sausage, cheese, beans, pickles,
  onions, jalapenos, bread, and Fritos, and in the years since, this
  all-in-one feast has become a favorite with Baylor University
  students; and
         WHEREAS, Bill and Susan Vitek's daughter, Julie Vitek Keith
  and her husband, Jason, have managed the restaurant since 2007,
  carrying forward the family tradition of good food and friendly
  service and proudly putting the family name in the national
  spotlight; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Vitek's BBQ on winning the Cooking
  Channel's 2013 Best College Eats competition and extend to Julie
  and Jason Keith and their staff sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Vitek's BBQ as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
