R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of Plano gathered on April 5, 2013, to |
|
|
dedicate a plaque in memory of police officer Wes Hardy, who lost |
|
|
his life in the line of duty in 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Hardy joined the Plano Police Department in |
|
|
1998, and during his notable nine-year tenure, he distinguished |
|
|
himself as a member of the patrol division and of the motorcycle |
|
|
section of the traffic unit; a licensed instructor for the Texas |
|
|
Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, he |
|
|
also held an Advanced Police Officer Certification; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Recognized for his professionalism, skill, and |
|
|
devotion to duty, he was honored for his efforts with more than 40 |
|
|
commendations as well as the Chief's Unit Award and the Meritorious |
|
|
Service Award; he brought to his position previous experience |
|
|
developed while working as a deputy sheriff for the Wise County |
|
|
Sheriff's Department; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Hardy further benefited his fellow citizens |
|
|
as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Howe; he was a proud |
|
|
family man as well who cherished his wife, Ashlee, and his twin |
|
|
daughters, Caitlyn and Cora; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each of us owes an immense debt of gratitude to the |
|
|
men and women of the law enforcement profession who willingly place |
|
|
themselves in harm's way to protect and serve the public, and the |
|
|
memorial to Wes Hardy ensures that his valor and sacrifice will not |
|
|
soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Plano police officer |
|
|
Wes Hardy. |
