R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Junior League of El Paso is celebrating the 80th
  anniversary of its founding in 2013, and this occasion presents a
  welcome opportunity to honor this fine organization and its many
  contributions to the community; and
         WHEREAS, Chartered in 1933, the Junior League of El Paso is an
  organization of women committed to improving the quality of life in
  the area through effective volunteer action and leadership; since
  its earliest years, members have ardently supported the arts in El
  Paso and advocated for local youth through a variety of child
  welfare initiatives; the group's programming has since expanded to
  include projects focused on curbing domestic violence, repairing
  homes of low-income families, and providing recreational
  opportunities for seniors; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the impact of the league's efforts can be
  seen throughout the city in such landmarks as the Ronald McDonald
  House of El Paso, a shelter for families of children undergoing
  treatment at area hospitals, and the Miracle Field, where young
  people with disabilities can experience the excitement of baseball;
  its membership, which now numbers more than 600, continues to
  undertake a variety of worthy endeavors that benefit El Paso
  citizens of all ages; and
         WHEREAS, For the past eight decades, the public-spirited
  women of the Junior League of El Paso have made a positive
  difference in countless lives through their impassioned civic
  leadership, and their efforts are indeed deserving of our profound
  gratitude and admiration; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Junior League of El Paso on the 80th
  anniversary of its founding and extend to its members sincere best
  wishes for continued success with their many good works; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
