R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, John Schingle of the Irving Police Department |
|
received the Community Builder Award from the James V. Callan |
|
Da-Lite Masonic Lodge on February 9, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Created by the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1991, the |
|
award recognizes non-Masons who have distinguished themselves |
|
through exceptional service to others; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Schingle, who has been a member of the |
|
Irving Police Department for three decades, has an impressive |
|
history of helping young people and other area residents; he |
|
enlisted the aid of the Irving Police Association to purchase |
|
tickets to Six Flags for two siblings whose father was murdered, and |
|
he contributes to the Irving Police and Fire Departments' Blue |
|
Christmas initiative, raising funds to provide toys and food for |
|
hungry families during the holiday season; and |
|
WHEREAS, Displaying extraordinary generosity, he has coached |
|
and traveled with the Irving Special Olympics team, holding a |
|
second job to earn money to benefit the group; he coaches and raises |
|
funds for the Irving Little League program, recruiting teams and |
|
bringing them to North Texas for competitions, and he is working to |
|
increase access to the program for Irving public schoolchildren; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Schingle also finds the time in his busy |
|
schedule to volunteer with Make-A-Wish and to visit sick children |
|
at the Scottish Rite Hospital; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those Texans who step forward to share their energy |
|
and resources with others are indeed deserving of our profound |
|
admiration and gratitude, and John Schingle, who has enriched the |
|
lives of countless individuals, sets an outstanding example of |
|
community involvement to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate John Schingle on receiving the |
|
Community Builder Award from the James V. Callan Da-Lite Masonic |
|
Lodge and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Officer Schingle as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
