R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, David P. Martin, Jr., is celebrating a significant
  milestone in his life in May 2013, when he graduates from The
  University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in
  biomedical engineering; and
         WHEREAS, Selected to participate in the Engineering Honors
  Program, Mr. Martin has excelled academically during his
  undergraduate career, earning placement on the university's honors
  list multiple times; in addition to taking challenging course work,
  he has served as a research assistant with the Jiang Lab on Systems
  Immunology, completed a senior design project with Articulate Labs,
  and studied at the University of Cambridge in England through the UT
  Maymester Abroad program; he is a recipient of the Virginia & Ernest
  Cockrell, Jr. Scholarship in Engineering, the Marsh & McLennan
  Companies Scholarship, and the Early High School Graduation
  Scholarship; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding scholar is a member of the
  biomedical engineering honor society, Beta Mu Epsilon, as well as
  honor societies Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, and Sigma Alpha
  Lambda, and he has been involved in the biomedical engineering
  mentorship initiative; in addition, Mr. Martin has served as an
  orientation advisor and has been active with Sigma Chi Fraternity
  and the Texas 4000, the longest charity bike ride in the world; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Martin was accepted into the Baylor College of
  Medicine, and following his graduation from UT, he will continue
  his education at this acclaimed institution; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Dave and Julie Martin, David Martin is a
  source of great pride to his loved ones, and it is a pleasure to join
  with them in honoring him as he embarks on a future bright with
  promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate David P. Martin, Jr., on his
  graduation from The University of Texas at Austin and on his
  acceptance to the Baylor College of Medicine and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Martin as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
