R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. W. E. Bosarge, Jr., of Houston is a dynamic |
|
innovator and entrepreneur in the worlds of mathematics, |
|
engineering, and finance, and his lifetime of achievement is truly |
|
an inspiration to others; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bosarge earned his bachelor's and master's |
|
degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his doctorate |
|
in applied mathematics from Brown University; he began his career |
|
at IBM working on NASA flight control systems for the Saturn rocket |
|
programs, and he went on to develop techniques for the quantitative |
|
analysis of financial markets for Wall Street firms; from 1969 to |
|
1972, he was a member of the mathematics department at Rice |
|
University; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1986, Dr. Bosarge founded The Frontier |
|
Companies, where he further developed predictive financial market |
|
technologies that have been adopted by institutions around the |
|
world; the author of more than 20 scientific papers that explore |
|
mathematical approaches to finance, he is also the founder and |
|
chair of Quantlab Group, a quantitative trading firm, the chief |
|
executive officer of Petrodome Energy, an oil and gas exploration |
|
company that operates in Texas, Louisiana, and the Gulf of Mexico, |
|
and the founder and CEO of Capital Technologies, which manages the |
|
Bosarge family holdings; through Capital Technologies, he has been |
|
involved in the development of an off-grid solar- and wind-powered |
|
resort on Over Yonder Cay in the Bahamas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Alongside his many executive roles, Dr. Bosarge is |
|
also a generous philanthropist; he serves on the board of visitors |
|
at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and he |
|
proudly works with the Commemorative Air Force Red Tail Squadron, |
|
the Texas Flying Legends Museum, and other nonprofits in their |
|
efforts to teach children the values of hard work, determination, |
|
and service to others; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ed Bosarge is married to the actress and singer |
|
Marie Bosarge, and he is the father of two children, Andrew and |
|
Suzanna; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bosarge's creative leadership in finance and |
|
engineering have placed him in the front rank of Texas |
|
entrepreneurs, and he may indeed take great pride in his impressive |
|
record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to Dr. W. E. Bosarge, Jr., for his |
|
many accomplishments and his contributions to his community and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Bosarge as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
