R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Valero McKee Refinery has received the 2013 |
|
Texas Environmental Excellence Award for technology; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established by the Texas Commission on |
|
Environmental Quality, the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards |
|
celebrate the efforts of citizens, communities, businesses, and |
|
organizations to preserve and protect the state's environment; the |
|
awards are presented each spring in diverse categories across the |
|
public and private sectors; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2008, the Valero McKee Refinery began work on the |
|
Sunray Wind Farm project; the site is now home to 33 turbines that |
|
help to produce cleaner energy and reduce the refinery's dependency |
|
on energy produced from coal-fired power plants; and |
|
WHEREAS, With its pioneering strategies to conserve energy, |
|
the Valero McKee Refinery is demonstrating exemplary stewardship of |
|
our state's natural resources, and it is indeed worthy of this |
|
prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Valero McKee Refinery on its |
|
receipt of a Texas Environmental Excellence Award from the Texas |
|
Commission on Environmental Quality and extend to all those |
|
associated with the facility sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
