R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Students in the Teen Leadership Class at Pilot Point |
|
Middle School were selected to participate in an innovative |
|
initiative called the Rain Barrel Project; and |
|
WHEREAS, Organized by City Secretary Alice Holloway and |
|
members of Keep Pilot Point Beautiful, the project was supported by |
|
a Green Bag Grant from Keep Texas Beautiful and H-E-B/Central |
|
Market, which Ms. Holloway used to purchase seven rain barrels; and |
|
WHEREAS, Teen Leadership teacher Kelly Erwin focused several |
|
lessons on the importance of reducing runoff and conserving water |
|
and on how rain barrels are an important tool in that effort; |
|
students subsequently had the opportunity to decorate each of the |
|
rain barrels, and they hope to be involved in placing them at |
|
strategic locations around the campus; and |
|
WHEREAS, By becoming better stewards of one of the state's |
|
most precious resources, these dedicated students are setting an |
|
outstanding example for their peers, their families, and their |
|
community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the students of the Pilot Point Middle |
|
School Teen Leadership Class for their participation in the Rain |
|
Barrel Project and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the class as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
