R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers helped preserve the beauty of
  Pilot Point on April 6, 2013, during the 8th Annual Trash-Off hosted
  by Keep Pilot Point Beautiful; and
         WHEREAS, More than 190 people turned out on a Saturday
  morning to collect trash throughout the city; after several hours,
  participants had amassed 222 bags of garbage and filled 57 trucks
  with brush debris for a total of more than three large dumpsters'
  worth of collected waste; the long morning of work was rewarded with
  a hot meal provided by Midway Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Local businesses also assisted in the community
  effort, with Integrity Car Care collecting 80 used tires, 10 car
  batteries, and 40 gallons of motor oil, Axtell Pharmacy and
  Compounding Center accepting unwanted prescription medication, and
  Electronic Waste Disposal assisting in the removal of discarded
  electronics; and
         WHEREAS, Preserving the natural splendor of the Lone Star
  State requires an active and responsible citizenry, and by taking
  part in this worthwhile endeavor, these public-spirited
  individuals have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the area
  they call home; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the participants in the Keep Pilot Point
  Beautiful 8th Annual Trash-Off and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Keep Pilot Point Beautiful as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
