R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Reverend Max A. Miller, Jr., of Mount Hebron
  Missionary Baptist Church in Houston served as Pastor of the Day for
  the Texas House of Representatives on April 12, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Since 2008, Reverend Miller has ably led Mount
  Hebron MBC, which was founded in 1958 by his uncle,
  Dr. J. J. Roberson; during his fine tenure, Reverend Miller has
  overseen numerous ministries and outreach efforts, including many
  options for young people and various activities at the church's
  family life center; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Miller further shares his time and talents
  beyond the walls of his church in a number of ways; named president
  of the Baptist Ministers' Association of Houston and Vicinity, he
  has held additional leadership roles in that organization and in
  the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas and the
  Independent Missionary Baptist General Association; he has been a
  member of the Mayor's Ministerial Advisory Committee and has served
  as a ministerial liaison to the Houston public schools and as chair
  of the Southeast City Wide Street Ministry; moreover, he has
  distinguished himself as a member of Houston Ministers Against
  Crime, the NAACP, and the Bayou Oaks Civic Club, and he is the
  former president of the Garden Villas Elementary School Parent
  Teacher Association; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Milby High School in Houston, Reverend
  Miller attended Prairie View A&M University and graduated from
  Theodacious Theological Seminary in Houston; continuing his
  studies, he is currently pursuing a master's degree in business
  administration from the College of Biblical Studies; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Miller exemplifies the highest standards
  of his vocation, and he has benefited many Texans with his strong
  faith and leadership; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Max A. Miller, Jr., for his
  service as Pastor of the Day and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued success and fulfillment; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Reverend Miller as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
