R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Rachel Grant of Prosper High School has been honored
  as the 2011-2012 Speech, Debate, and Theatre Educator of the Year
  for Texas by the National Federation of State High School
  Associations (NFHS); and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1988, this prestigious award
  recognizes educators who have achieved outstanding results in the
  classroom and beyond; individuals are nominated by the NFHS state
  contacts, which is the University Interscholastic League in Texas,
  and nominees are then judged by the organization's Speech Committee
  on a number of criteria, including years of service, involvement in
  relevant school activities, and contributions to their profession;
  and
         WHEREAS, Rachel "Racy" Grant has been an educator for 18
  years and is a truly deserving recipient of this accolade;
  currently the assistant principal at Prosper High, she previously
  coached UIL speech and debate teams at Hallsville and Waskom High
  Schools, guiding her students to win multiple state championships
  and more than 23 individual medals; in addition, she has served as
  the district chair of the National Forensic League, which
  recognized her work with a Diamond Coach Award and Leading Chapter
  Award; moreover, she represented Texas at the NFHS CX Debate Topic
  Selection Meeting and has served the Texas Speech Communication
  Association in numerous leadership roles; and
         WHEREAS, A mentor and coach to new teachers and students
  alike, Racy Grant has inspired countless young Texans to achieve
  their full potential by harnessing the power of articulate and
  thoughtful discourse, and she may reflect with justifiable pride on
  her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Rachel Grant on her receipt of the
  2011-2012 Speech, Debate, and Theatre Educator of the Year Award
  for Texas from the National Federation of State High School
  Associations and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Grant as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
