R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Rachel Grant of Prosper High School has been honored |
|
as the 2011-2012 Speech, Debate, and Theatre Educator of the Year |
|
for Texas by the National Federation of State High School |
|
Associations (NFHS); and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1988, this prestigious award |
|
recognizes educators who have achieved outstanding results in the |
|
classroom and beyond; individuals are nominated by the NFHS state |
|
contacts, which is the University Interscholastic League in Texas, |
|
and nominees are then judged by the organization's Speech Committee |
|
on a number of criteria, including years of service, involvement in |
|
relevant school activities, and contributions to their profession; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Rachel "Racy" Grant has been an educator for 18 |
|
years and is a truly deserving recipient of this accolade; |
|
currently the assistant principal at Prosper High, she previously |
|
coached UIL speech and debate teams at Hallsville and Waskom High |
|
Schools, guiding her students to win multiple state championships |
|
and more than 23 individual medals; in addition, she has served as |
|
the district chair of the National Forensic League, which |
|
recognized her work with a Diamond Coach Award and Leading Chapter |
|
Award; moreover, she represented Texas at the NFHS CX Debate Topic |
|
Selection Meeting and has served the Texas Speech Communication |
|
Association in numerous leadership roles; and |
|
WHEREAS, A mentor and coach to new teachers and students |
|
alike, Racy Grant has inspired countless young Texans to achieve |
|
their full potential by harnessing the power of articulate and |
|
thoughtful discourse, and she may reflect with justifiable pride on |
|
her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rachel Grant on her receipt of the |
|
2011-2012 Speech, Debate, and Theatre Educator of the Year Award |
|
for Texas from the National Federation of State High School |
|
Associations and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Grant as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
