R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Gabriel Garcia has been participating in the 2013 |
|
|
Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the 83rd |
|
|
Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans as an aide |
|
|
in the office of State Representative Roland Gutierrez; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |
|
|
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university |
|
|
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |
|
|
policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American |
|
|
Legislative Caucus and to gain experience working with the Texas |
|
|
Legislature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Mexico and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, |
|
|
Mr. Garcia earned bachelor's degrees in political science and |
|
|
history from The University of Texas--Pan American; he plans to |
|
|
pursue postgraduate studies in international relations and hopes to |
|
|
work as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol, |
|
|
Gabriel Garcia has been of great assistance to Representative |
|
|
Gutierrez's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing |
|
|
citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a |
|
|
legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he |
|
|
may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Gabriel Garcia as a participant in the |
|
|
2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him |
|
|
for his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
