R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley is fortunate to have dedicated
  community leaders like Dario V. Guerra, Jr., of Edinburg, who has
  given generously of his time and talents to many important
  professional, government, and civic organizations; and
         WHEREAS, A native of McAllen and a graduate of Texas A&I
  University in Kingsville with a bachelor's degree in agriculture,
  Mr. Guerra started in the ranching business in 1960; he has been
  chair of the Hidalgo Soil & Water Conservation District and the
  Committee of Agriculture on Task Force 2000 at Texas A&M and has
  served on the Public Advisory Committee on Soil & Water
  Conservation to the Secretary of Agriculture and as an advisor to
  Texas Partners of the Alliance with Peru; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guerra's expertise is widely respected, and he
  has been appointed to the Governor's State Rural Advisory Council,
  the Texas Water Development Board, the Rio Grande Regional Water
  Authority Board of Directors, and the Governor's Task Force on
  Agriculture; he has further worked with the Texas ASCS State
  Committee, the National Commission on Small Farms, the Farm Service
  Agency, and the AmeriCorps Program; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Guerra served as
  president of the school board, president of Easter Seals, chair of
  the board of directors of the Tropical Texas Center for Mental
  Health and Retardation, and chair of the Hidalgo County Program
  Building Committee; additionally, he served as a member of the
  board of directors of the Hidalgo Historical Museum, Jefferson
  Savings & Loan, and Franklin Savings & Loan; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guerra also played a prominent role in the Rio
  Grande Valley Livestock Show, and during his 50-year tenure, he led
  RGVLS as director and president; and
         WHEREAS, Recognized for his exceptional service in behalf of
  others, Mr. Guerra has been named Humanitarian of the Year by
  Easter Seals and Man of the Year in Agriculture by the Texas County
  Agricultural Agents Association; he has also earned accolades from
  FFA, the Edinburg School Board, and RGVLS; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guerra is supported in all his endeavors by his
  wife, Carmen, and they are blessed with a fine family that includes
  6 children and 15 grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Texas has benefited greatly from Dario V. Guerra's
  tireless efforts for the greater good, and he truly merits special
  commendation for his hard work and notable achievements; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dario V. Guerra, Jr., for his
  contributions to the Rio Grande Valley and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Guerra as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
