R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Thomas G. Zipp of New Braunfels passed away on |
|
January 22, 2013, at the age of 76, leaving his family and friends |
|
with many treasured memories of time spent in his company; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on February 20, 1936, in New Braunfels to |
|
Marvin and Edna Zipp, Tommy Zipp pursued his education at Texas A&M |
|
University and was a member of the school's Aggie Band and former |
|
student associations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Zipp was a champion of agricultural education |
|
and played a key role in establishing the agriculture department at |
|
Canyon High School when it opened in 1959; he was also a founding |
|
member of the Comal County Junior Livestock Show, and he |
|
contributed in numerous ways to the Comal County Fair Association, |
|
which he served as president, senior director, and livestock |
|
superintendent over the course of his involvement; and |
|
WHEREAS, A farmer and rancher himself, Mr. Zipp found further |
|
success as a realtor; moreover, he was a member of the New Braunfels |
|
Evening Lions Club and the Green Valley Water Board; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Zipp enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Mary Jo Zipp, with whom he shared more than |
|
half a century of marriage; together, they took great pride in their |
|
daughters, Jill and Jan, and shared in the joy of welcoming three |
|
grandchildren, Christopher, Shawn, and Patrick, into their family; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Tommy Zipp lived a caring and purposeful life, and |
|
he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those |
|
fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tommy Zipp and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Mary Jo Zipp; to his daughters, Jill Bennett and her husband, Gregg, |
|
and Jan Pardee; to his grandchildren, Christopher and Shawn Bennett |
|
and Patrick Pardee; to his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herb |
|
and Barbara Stratton; and to his other relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tommy Zipp. |
