R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Thomas G. Zipp of New Braunfels passed away on
  January 22, 2013, at the age of 76, leaving his family and friends
  with many treasured memories of time spent in his company; and
         WHEREAS, Born on February 20, 1936, in New Braunfels to
  Marvin and Edna Zipp, Tommy Zipp pursued his education at Texas A&M
  University and was a member of the school's Aggie Band and former
  student associations; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Zipp was a champion of agricultural education
  and played a key role in establishing the agriculture department at
  Canyon High School when it opened in 1959; he was also a founding
  member of the Comal County Junior Livestock Show, and he
  contributed in numerous ways to the Comal County Fair Association,
  which he served as president, senior director, and livestock
  superintendent over the course of his involvement; and
         WHEREAS, A farmer and rancher himself, Mr. Zipp found further
  success as a realtor; moreover, he was a member of the New Braunfels
  Evening Lions Club and the Green Valley Water Board; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Zipp enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Mary Jo Zipp, with whom he shared more than
  half a century of marriage; together, they took great pride in their
  daughters, Jill and Jan, and shared in the joy of welcoming three
  grandchildren, Christopher, Shawn, and Patrick, into their family;
  and
         WHEREAS, Tommy Zipp lived a caring and purposeful life, and
  he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those
  fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tommy Zipp and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Mary Jo Zipp; to his daughters, Jill Bennett and her husband, Gregg,
  and Jan Pardee; to his grandchildren, Christopher and Shawn Bennett
  and Patrick Pardee; to his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herb
  and Barbara Stratton; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tommy Zipp.
