R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The year 2013 marks a significant milestone in the |
|
life of Barbara Lynn, for she is celebrating her 50th anniversary as |
|
a teacher at Quitman Elementary School; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of an educator, Barbara Lynn knew from |
|
an early age that she wanted to become a teacher; she earned her |
|
degree from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce and |
|
embarked on her career at Quitman in 1953; over the years, she has |
|
taught second, third, and fourth grades, but she has focused |
|
exclusively on the first grade since 1972; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lynn has taught generations of Quitman |
|
residents and has even inspired several former students to become |
|
teachers; despite the numerous changes that have taken place in |
|
education in the past five decades, especially in standardized |
|
testing and technology, Mrs. Lynn has adapted and has found that the |
|
basics of "reading, writing, and arithmetic" are as important as |
|
ever; a dynamic teacher with high expectations, she nevertheless |
|
creates a fun and nurturing classroom environment for her students; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, For half a century, countless young Texans have |
|
benefited from Barbara Lynn's dedication and passion for education, |
|
and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing her many years of |
|
exemplary service to the students of the Quitman Independent School |
|
District; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Barbara Lynn for her 50 years of service at |
|
Quitman Elementary School and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Lynn as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
