R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Panther Band at Midway High School in Waco has |
|
|
demonstrated its virtuosity once again by claiming the UIL |
|
|
Sweepstakes Award for the 2012-2013 school year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The UIL Sweepstakes Award recognizes exceptional |
|
|
achievement by student bands in musical competition; ensembles must |
|
|
earn Division I ratings in three disciplines--marching, concert, |
|
|
and sight-reading--to be eligible for this prestigious |
|
|
commendation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Panther Band scored straight first division |
|
|
ratings at the fall 2012 UIL Marching Contest, and the Panther Wind |
|
|
Symphony earned first division ratings from all six judges at the |
|
|
Region Concert and Sight-Reading Contest in Copperas Cove on April |
|
|
10, 2013, thereby securing the Sweepstakes honor; moreover, this |
|
|
was the band's first year competing in Class 5A, and its success |
|
|
against a larger pool of competitors deserves special praise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through long hours of practice and an unwavering |
|
|
commitment to excellence, the Midway Panther Band has developed |
|
|
into an accomplished ensemble that is a source of great pride to its |
|
|
school and to its many community supporters; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Midway High School Panther Band |
|
|
on earning the UIL Sweepstakes Award for 2012-2013 and extend to all |
|
|
those associated with the group sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
