  H.R. No. 1953

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Bruceville-Eddy High School softball team
captured the District 21-2A championship with a 5-0 victory over
Crawford High School on April 8, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of head coach Keith Johnson, the
Lady Eagles pushed their overall record to 20 wins and just 2
losses, including a perfect 10-0 mark in league competition, as
they claimed their first district crown since 2009; and
WHEREAS, In the title-clinching game, Bruceville-Eddy
pitcher Ashley Hoehn turned in a dominating performance in shutting
out the defending state champions from Crawford; she held the
opposing batters to only four hits and never allowed a runner to
advance farther than second base; timely hits from Ms. Hoehn,
Whitney Doyen, Bailey Robins, and Erin Anderson, as well as a key
sacrifice by Ashley Terpening, provided the offensive firepower to
carry the Lady Eagles to victory; and
WHEREAS, Winning a district championship is the culmination
of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to
excellence, and these talented student-athletes may take
justifiable pride in this notable accomplishment; now, therefore,
  be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Bruceville-Eddy High School
softball team on winning the District 21-2A championship and extend
to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
