R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Melanie Trostel, an intern in the office of the
  speaker of the house, has been named a Distinguished College
  Scholar by The University of Texas at Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Each spring since 1948, UT-Austin has designated
  exceptional students as Distinguished College Scholars on Honors
  Day; Distinguished College Scholars rank in the top four percent of
  their class in the college or school of their major, based on their
  in-residence cumulative grade point average; students must have
  completed at least 30 semester hours of course work in residence and
  at least 60 hours of college course work overall, including
  transferred work and credit by examination; and
         WHEREAS, A student in the College of Education at UT-Austin,
  Melanie Trostel graduated in 2010 from Lake Highlands High School
  in the Richardson Independent School District, where she was a
  member of the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society; currently,
  she serves as an intern for the speaker's chief of staff, Jesse
  Ancira; and
         WHEREAS, Melanie Trostel has demonstrated an exceptional
  commitment to academic achievement, and through her intelligence,
  initiative, and determination, she has earned membership in an
  elite group of students; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Melanie Trostel on her selection as
  a Distinguished College Scholar by The University of Texas at
  Austin and commend her for her dedicated service in the office of
  the speaker of the house; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Trostel as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
