R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Courtney Lemley of Briscoe Middle School in San |
|
|
Antonio has been selected as a 2013 First Year Educator of the Year |
|
|
by the Northside Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Lemley is a seventh-grade teacher of Texas |
|
|
history who started at Briscoe midterm last year; she quickly |
|
|
developed a good rapport with her students, and she has also |
|
|
emphasized communication with parents and collaboration with her |
|
|
peers; by developing several different approaches to lessons, she |
|
|
engages her students and reaches those with special needs or |
|
|
alternative learning styles, using technology and other techniques |
|
|
to make learning fun and accessible; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An active and energetic teacher, Ms. Lemley has |
|
|
created an optional enrichment class that many of her students |
|
|
attend, and she is a cosponsor of the school's student council and |
|
|
helps to teach Saturday classes for students in need of remedial |
|
|
classroom time; moreover, she set up the school's first flag corps |
|
|
and has organized a school-wide Veterans Day program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Teachers play a vital role in preparing the next |
|
|
generation of Texans for the challenges and opportunities of the |
|
|
future, and Courtney Lemley works to instill in her students a love |
|
|
of learning that will serve them well in every aspect of their |
|
|
lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Courtney Lemley on her selection as |
|
|
a 2013 First Year Educator of the Year by the Northside Independent |
|
|
School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Lemley as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
