R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Manny Gonzalez has been participating in the 2013 |
|
|
Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the 83rd |
|
|
Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans as an aide |
|
|
in the office of State Representative Rafael Anchia; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |
|
|
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university |
|
|
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |
|
|
policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American |
|
|
Legislative Caucus and to gain experience working with the Texas |
|
|
Legislature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A doctoral student at The University of Texas at |
|
|
Austin, Mr. Gonzalez is studying education administration and |
|
|
currently researching the impact of federal and state legislation |
|
|
on education, as well as the presence and performance of Latino men |
|
|
in higher education; he has previously served as a community |
|
|
organizer with UT Austin's Project Mentoring to Achieve Latino |
|
|
Education Success and as an education policy intern with the White |
|
|
House Domestic Policy Council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol, |
|
|
Manny Gonzalez has been of great assistance to Representative |
|
|
Anchia's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing |
|
|
citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a |
|
|
legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he |
|
|
may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Manny Gonzalez as a participant in the |
|
|
2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him |
|
|
for his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
